“I’ve lived in Bushwood for years & have always wanted to bring a taste of iconic 20th Century Design to the local area” says James. “The new café & Annex space at the Good Shepherd Studios got me thinking… this could be the perfect spot to showcase some of the amazing vintage furniture dealers from our very own corner of East London!”

Stanley Strange - for the joy of beautiful things.
Leytonstone local Tom is dedicated to seeking and sourcing extraordinary objects, to give them a new lease of life. He loves the philosophy behind collecting furniture & home decor - the thrill of the hunt & the memories that come with it.
His focus is on quality, individuality, character & charm & believes in democratic design. Every item tells its own story - a story that continues in the hands of its next owner. So, whether you're a collector, designer or decorating your home, you can be sure there will be something for you!
“Stanley Strange is named after my grandfather, a collector of antiques and 'one off' oddities” says Tom. “Following in his footsteps, and heavily influenced by my mother, also a collector and dealer, I grew up surrounded by antiques and attractive items. I began collecting many years ago & would now like to share my finds with you.”

“I started selling in 2020 & since then I haven’t stopped sourcing, always searching through markets & auctions to find something I love, wherever I am” says Vic. “My stock ranges from Mid-century items to more contemporary pieces, practical & beautiful classics plus the odd quirky twist. Always things that I love & I can only buy things that I would have in my own home!”

Estelle is a curated collection of one-off objects with an emphasis on ceramics and art. Started in 2020, it is the long-standing dream of ex-costume designer Laura who has lived in the E11 area for the last ten years. Sourcing beautifully made things that exist because of meaningful ideas and imagination is at the heart of the brand.
“It started as an idea to house my ever-growing obsession with decorative objects” says Laura. “I’m usually drawn to something for its colour, or texture, sometimes even its humour? But often objects just seem to speak to me and I can’t resist them, I’m compelled!”
